Voting table template
by Atlassian
Take a democratic approach with your team decisions with a voting table
Team members appreciate when they get to weigh in and help make choices. Creating a simple voting table to help the democratic process unfold is a great way to poll your group. It can be about what project to prioritize next, a new product name, which strategy to focus on, deciding which day to hold all-team meetings, or anything other decision that needs to be made as a team. This template will help your team come to a fair agreement in a fun way using emojis.
How to use the voting table template
Step 1. Set up the project or challenge to be votes on
Start by adding the name of the project or task that requires everyone to vote on. If there is no specific name, add a short phrase to let the team know what the vote is about. Then add a short description of the issue at hand so they have more context on what they are being asked to do.
Step 2. List out the criteria for the vote
It is important to give directions on how to vote. Be as specific as you can so there is no ambiguity. For example, will they vote yay or nay? Or will they prioritize tasks with numbers? Are they allowed to vote more than once? You get to decide. This section is the key to creating a successful voting table.
Step 3. Get them to vote!
Send out reminders to the team to vote and give a deadline not too far in the future. Keep track of who has voted and ping any team member who hasn't once the deadline hits. Feel free to let them make comments regarding their vote or delete the column if preferred.
Step 4. Report out on the results
Be sure to add a section at the end to let everyone know how the team voted. Remember to @mention them so they know to come back for the results of the poll and what next steps (if any) are needed to continue. Happy voting!
