Looking at a 12-month span of time is a great way to reflect on highlights, accomplishments, and challenges. Sharing this year in review helps your manager and teammates see progress and identify gaps or needs in the overall team. It can provide your upcoming year with a clean slate on which to grow and prosper.
How to use the year in review template
- 1
Plan to write about each month over the course of the year
It’s too difficult to think back 6 or more months to what highlights occurred. Be sure to set aside time at the end of each month and fill out the main achievements or blockers. By the end of the year, you will be able to look back and gain a holistic view of what your year was like and how much you accomplished.

- 2
Add photos or images
Once you’ve written about your month, add any engaging or explanatory images that reflect these highlights. You can fun photos of a vacation, add graphs or charts of goals met, and use emojis to show emotions you had during that span of time.

Share with your team at year end
Now that the year has come to an end, share your year in review with your manager and teammates. Encourage them to share their reviews as well. In your last weekly standup of the year, you can ask everyone to share their overall view of the year and what they’ve learned and accomplished.
